We don't expect our kids to have just one job in life. We should encourage them to change jobs and do many jobs at the same time. Most importantly, keep learning and live a simple life.

End of summer recess, 2018

It is the last day of summer recess. Tomorrow will be the first of "Back to School". This summer I have done many productive things and arranged activities for my kids to let them having a joyful break. My kids spent a week in Taipei attending English summer camp, and their swimming skills are also improved through intensive swimming classes.  It is also good to have long break in order to rest ,learn something new for me, and most importantly, having fun with my family. I hope my career will reach a new milestone this coming semester.

快樂學讀後感

這本書用心理學實徵研究的角度來探討快樂，仔細回想一下，有時自己的行為在降低快樂的感受。書中提出快樂需要的三件事，精通、歸屬、自主。亦即追求心流、去愛(與付出)的需要、對內在控制的需要。總之，快樂需要去領悟與練習的。

International Symposium on Teaching, Education, and Learning (ISTEL), Seoul, KOREA

2018 International Symposium on Teaching, Education, and Learning 於七月六日至八日於韓國首爾的COEX convention center舉辦，我於七月五日就啟程前往。第一天的開幕儀式於漢陽大學舉行，開幕式後的Keynote Speech為來自英國倫敦Centre for Executive and Professional Development的Kanes Rajeh教授，他的演講主題為”From Darwin to the digitalized ecology: An entrepreneur’s delight or dilemma”.

我的發表場次安排在七月七日早上，我的發表主題為”Examining older adults’ decision to use decisions to use mobile devices for learning”，這是我科技部計畫的研究成果，主要是利用Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT)來了解台灣樂齡學習中心學習者對於利用智慧型手機來進行數位學習的行為意圖，我的發表地點被安排在COEX會議中心的三樓的會議室，該場次的主席是來自美國Boise State University 的Kim Carter-Cram 教授，他是該校語言學系的教授，主要教授法文與線上英語課程，她的發表的主題為”Increasing instructor and social presence in online classroom: What works and What doesn’t”，由於在美國線上學習課程已經相當的成熟，因此有關線上教師的存在感的研究，這幾年相當的重視，Social presence就是一個中面向。該場次共有三位發表者，另一位發表者為來自台灣嶺東科技大學的Yi-Ting Wang教授，她的主題係以Extended Expectation Confirmation theory及Flow theory來探討英文學習者使用手機應用程式的態度。由於我的主題針對高齡者使用手機進行學習的調查研究，問卷的發展係根據國外學者所設計的調查工具，因此熟悉使用者行為調查的學者都對UTAUT模式熟悉，在發表後，他們針對我的研究提出兩個問題，其中Kim Carter-Cram 教授的一個問題，讓我有機會解釋台灣的樂齡學習中心的發展現況，以及高齡者使用手機的取向，也藉機分享在高齡者使用智慧型手機的比例相當高，隨者他們的資訊素養能力提高，他們使用智慧型手機進行學習的態度也會提升，在場一位來自土耳其的教授FaiK，也認為高齡者利用手機可以與時俱進，相關主題的研究相當需要，尤其是有關學習運用。另一個問題，則是有關手機運用對於教育程度較低的高齡者是否不同於教育程度高且資訊素養較佳的高齡者，這個建議讓我對後續研究有所啟發，或許可以進一步去探究不識字或教育程度較低高齡者對於使用智慧型手機的需求與行為意圖態度。

這是我第一次於韓國參加國際研討會，韓國是一個資訊科技發達的國家，主辦單位將所有的活動、照片與訊息分享在Whova手機應用程式公告，研討會參與者可以隨時在此應用程式了解研討會的進行況，並能瀏覽照片與提出問題，建議國內辦理的研討會除了網站外，可以多利用手機的APP來管理研討會的大小事，也能讓參與者隨時留意研討會的進度與發布的訊息。

我輩中人讀後感

這是一本到了中年階段的人應該看的書，書中描述一些事我都經歷過甚至在經歷中，也從許多同輩朋友中感受到。

Grit 恆毅力

該閱讀完此本書，檢視自己的生命，其實有些成就與失敗的確符合書中所述。有三點心得，可進一步去強化自己的恆毅力心智。

1. 需刻意練習
2. 訂定困難的任務
3. 思考你已經在做得事情如何對社會產生正面的貢獻

I visited Gold Coast in 2009 during the holiday of my research visit at Macquarie University . It is always nice to revisit the place with beautiful beaches and mild weather. This visit has two additions with us.

 

Farewell 2017, Hello 2018

Today is the last day of 2017. 2018 is just few hours away.  I started to pay attention to the air pollution issue in central and southern Taiwan, and I have realized that we barely have clear air to breath recently.  I hope people can work together to think a better solution to solve the problem.  We need clean and fresh air!!!   Finally, wish my family members and I all the best in the year of 2018.
