So long 2020

Last day of 2020. It was cold. I saw many birds singing in the trees. Hopefully, the world will back to normal lifestyles that people used to live.

Wedding car driver

First time to be a driver for wedding car team in my cousin's big day. I woke up at 5:20 A.M. and met with drivers and relatives at 6:00 A.M. We drove to Taichung to pick up bride and came back to Chia-Yi. It is an unforgettable memory in my life.

Birthday wishes

It was a relaxing day to enjoy my bithday. Thanks to my family members arranging dinner and brought me a cake. Whish everyone healthy and doing well at school and work. Most importantly, for myself, happy and healthy.

End of Summer recess 2020

This summer is almost coming to the end for kids. Due to the outbreak of covid-19, we were unable to travel overseas this summer. Instead, we tried to arrange a trip to Kinmen island from Aug.21 to Aug. 23, and we got a chance to take airplane to viisit the front line territory of Taiwan. This trip brought back many fond memories when I did my military service from 1991-1993. On Aug.29, I met an old friend at a bar in Kaohsing, and we had good time enjoying cocktails and talked about memories we had together during studies in the United States. On Aug. 30th, I went to worship God at Bread of Life Christian Church in Kaohsiung. I pray for my helath, family, and work. Hope things are going well in the coming semester.

Annular Solar Eclipse, June 21, 2020

It was an unforgettable and exciting experience to observe annular solar eclipse near my home and on the balcony of my house. 

February 29

Today is February 29th. This is a very special day because the next leap day will be 4 years later in 2024. I have to write something that I have done today. This morning, I had a class with a group of graduate students in the weekend program. I taught them statistics. Due to the prevention of coronavirus spreading, all classrooms were closed in order to do deep cleaning and sanitation process. The lecture ended at 12:30 p.m. After lunch, I started to review an assigned research proposal and did the laundry. Around 5 p.m., I submitted my review opinions and ready to drive home. It is always good to stay with my family.

Two books that can help for "ready to retire" generation

此次參與的研討會為Educational, Teaching, and E-learning (AC-ETel)於2019年8月8日至10日在捷克布拉格（Prague）的Czech Association of Scientific and Technical Societies舉行，主辦單位為捷克科技大學(Czech Technical University in Prague)， AC-ETel會議的地點位於布拉格著名的景點查理大橋附近，景色非常優美。

研討會的開幕於八月八日早上九點開始，Session chair為Stanistav Radocha，研討會的參與學者有來自英國、法國、捷克、羅馬尼亞、馬其頓、烏克蘭、土耳其、科威特、美國、沙烏地阿拉伯、紐西蘭、韓國、日本、香港及台灣，是一個相當國際化的研究論文研討會。研究者的發表安排在八月八日的11:00至13:00時段，研究者在早上就抵達研討會的地點，在研究者發表的場次中，有三位研究者的發表主題都是有關英語教學的學習成效，主要是由日本、土耳其與科威特的學者分享，其中我印象較為深刻的是由來自土耳其Anadolu University的Sema Kaplan Karabina以及科威特American University of the Middle East的Emira Limani的分享，Limani教授的主題為Using Diverse Pedagogical Tools in Teaching Marketing Courses，她的主題與研究者的研究方向較為相關，她的論文主要是有關如何利用線上學習平台Moodle來引起學生的學習動機，她特別提到科威特大學生學習動機低落的現象，主要是科威特政府補助大學生很多，學生在大學階段壓力較小，因此大學教授都想辦法提升學生的學習動機，這個現象與台灣相同，大學教授都想辦法在教學上提升學習的學習動機，讓學生有更好的學習成果。在她的發表中提到多數學生期待知道教授對學生的要求以及作業繳交的期限，因此Moodle就是一個很好的工具，例如公告作業的要求以及繳交作業的規定，還有利用線上點名的功能，她特別說明給予學生certificate(成就證明)，對於學生學習動機的提升有重要的影響，在certificate中要註明該學生特別表現優異的事蹟說明，例如：給予同儕回饋最多、最佳創意思考、上課準時等，Limani教授的分享給與研究者許多啟發，主要因為研究者任教的學校也使用Moodle線上學習管理平台。在場次結束後，研究者特別請教她有關科威特高等教育的現況以及線上學習的發展。另一位研究者印象深刻的演講是來自羅馬尼亞的Bogdan Fleaca教授，她的研究室有關利用Critical to Quality (CTQ) Tree from Six Sigma技術來提升教學過程，這是屬於管理學的理論，但運用在高等教育的教學過程分析也是可行的。Fleaca教授的分享也給予研究者許多啟發，尤其是理論運用的跨域思維，管理學中許多理論都可以運用於研究者專長的成人教育。Fleaca教授在演講後特別提到她任教的學校University Poliyehnica of Bucharest希望和來自其他國家的大學建立夥伴關係。

研究者此次參與的研討會位於歐洲內陸，參與的學者在研究上的發表較為較為關心國際化接軌的發展，同時也關心目前高等教育的現況，本次研討會研究的主題有別於過去參加的研討會，研究者認為相較於英國、德國、法國已開發的國家，中歐與東歐國家發展較為弱勢，因此也希望藉由研討會能讓更多的國際學者分享研究的成果，讓歐洲內陸的國家能對其他國家在教育研究的理論與實務發展有更進一步的了解，因此研究者建議國內研討會的主辦單位在研討會的徵文可以廣納非已開發國家的研究論文，可以更進一步邀請發展中國家的學者來分享研究成果，透過彼此的交流，台灣的學者可以分享研究成果與實務經驗給歐洲內陸與中亞的國家，同時也可以得到許多的啟發，畢竟科技的發展讓國與國之間的溝通更加的方便。
